From the Henri Coanda, the Bucharest airport we will be driving for three hours to Ciocanu, to our warm and homey accommodation, deep in(to) the mountains. We'll take the road through the Prahova valley, which you might or might not heard of: here we have the main ski resorts (like Poiana Brașov), the Peleș and Pelișor castles, Cantacuzino and Bran. The last one is home of the famous Dracula, and Peleș was our king Carol I residency. We also take a little pride in Prince Charles' love for Transylvania: did you know he built several retreats here, preserving their Romanian heritage?
As you finally finish listening to our stories we end the drive in Ciocanu, where a warm meal is waiting for you, like never before.
DAY 2
- Breakfast
- About 52 kilometers of MTB around Piatra Craiului mountains (+ 1700 m) around 10 hours
- Max altitude 1,463m
- Dinner at the hotel
Eternity was born in the village" is a Romanian saying that sums up perfectly our second day. We will start with a beautiful descent to the Șirnea village, one of the best of our cultural heritage. We meet and greet the authentic architecture. You fall in love, we show you the up and down road. When you think we already showed you the best, the "Transylvania's Swiss" unfolds before your eyes. This is Măgura village, where you can reset your priorities: time stops, it seems you never had any problems, it seems everything is suddenly easy, unimportant or easy to decide. For one of those moments, when your breath stops in awe and your mind finally relaxes in a Stendhal Syndrome, we live by every day. Our trail is shaped between the houses' narrow fences and we climb to Șaua Joaca to a series of single trails, the playground of forest mountain bike. From this we go down in a serpent road, having the Bucegi Mountains in front of us and we get back to Șirnea. We go up to our accommodation, for the best and well deserved meal and a little rest.
DAY 3
- Breakfast
- MTB around Bucegi Mountains 52 km (+1720 m)
- Max altitude 1,437m
- Dinner at the hotel
Prepare to get lucky, because this is the day with the most spectacular MTB ride down in Transylvania. It is also the most technical day, it is more difficult, but it has the most beautiful landscapes. We start easily in Fundata, where everything is so picturesque you want to call home and move here. We then go down to Moeciu de Sus, where every landscape is a potential National Geographic picture. From there we'll ascend to highest point of the day, through the wild forest that takes on the ridge. These 5km on the mountain crest shows you a panorama of the entire tour of these days (told you, you get lucky). After that you should just fasten your seatbelt, because you got to the downhill from Șaua Strunga, our favorites 15km of fast enjoying the wild forests of Transylvania.
DAY 4
- Breakfast
- Visiting: Bear Sanctuary, Bran Castel, Poiana Brasov, Brasov city (having lunch in a traditional restaurant)
- Transfer to Bucharest Airport
